Cutting Processing
Cut-to-length, cut-to-size and blank preparation can reduce downstream handling and machining time. The suitable cutting method is selected according to the material grade, product form, thickness, required edge condition and dimensional tolerance.

Processing procedure 02
Quenching and Tempering Processing
Quenching and tempering are coordinated when the specified alloy and end use require a controlled balance of hardness, strength and toughness. The treatment route must follow the material grade, governing standard, section size and target properties.
- Quenching: controlled heating followed by rapid cooling to develop a hardened structure where appropriate.
- Tempering: reheating after quenching to reduce brittleness and achieve the specified property balance.
- Verification: hardness or other mechanical testing can be arranged when included in the agreed inspection plan.
Required heat-treatment condition, hardness range, test standard and certificate must be specified before production.
Heat-treatment parameters depend on the alloy and specification.

Technology for Heating Processing
Heat-treatment technology is selected to achieve the material structure and performance required by the drawing or applicable standard. Common processes include quenching, tempering, annealing and normalizing; availability and process parameters are confirmed for each order.

Steel is heated into the required transformation range and cooled at a controlled rate to develop hardness and strength. The exact cycle depends on grade and section size.

Quenched steel is reheated to a specified temperature to reduce brittleness and adjust hardness, strength and toughness for the intended application.

Annealing
Annealing can soften material, relieve internal stress and improve workability or microstructural uniformity, subject to the alloy specification.
Normalizing
Normalizing
Normalizing can refine and equalize the steel structure, reduce residual stress and prepare suitable grades for subsequent processing or heat treatment.
Heat-treatment cycles are engineering parameters. The required grade, condition, standard, target hardness or mechanical properties, test method and acceptance criteria must be confirmed in writing.
Quality control and inspection documents
Quality requirements should be agreed before the order is placed. LY Metal can coordinate inspection based on the product specification and buyer's acceptance criteria. The scope may include visual and dimensional checks, material verification, chemical composition analysis and mechanical testing.
- Material identification: grade and specification checked against purchase requirements.
- Dimensional inspection: key dimensions and tolerances checked with suitable calibrated instruments.
- Chemical analysis: XRF or optical emission spectroscopy may be used when appropriate; method selection depends on the alloy and elements being measured.
- Mechanical testing: tensile, hardness, bending or other tests can be arranged when required by the specification.
- Documentation: mill test certificates, inspection records or qualified third-party reports can be requested and must be confirmed in the quotation.

Export packaging for industrial metals
