While the 6061 aluminum alloy is not as strong as some of the higher-grade materials, it still offers a very high strength to weight ratio. This means that it can be used in applications where space is at a premium and weight is important, such as car suspension components.

In addition to its excellent strength, this material is highly corrosion resistant, both in air and marine environments. It also has good machinability, meaning that it can be turned easily and has excellent finish qualities.
